About Us
People of Asia for Climate Solutions (PACS) is a leading climate action organization based in Asia, working at the intersection of renewable energy, environmental justice, and grassroots empowerment. As we expand our presence in Africa, we are looking for an African campaigner to work on a part-time basis, to help the organization to foster deeper collaboration between China and African countries, and to accelerate the continent's just and equitable energy transition.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, committed, and visionary Energy Campaigner to lead and implement PACS’s energy transition campaigns in Africa. The campaigner will be at the forefront of our efforts to shift away from fossil fuels, advocate for renewable energy policies, and work with communities to amplify their voices in national and regional dialogues.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead energy campaigns aligned with PACS’s climate and environmental justice goals in Africa.
- Build strategic partnerships with grassroots communities, NGOs, climate justice movements, and government stakeholders.
- Conduct policy analysis and advocacy targeting key energy-related decisions in the region.
- Develop and implement media and communication strategies to increase the visibility and impact of energy campaigns.
- Represent PACS at public events, conferences, and policy forums in Africa and globally.
- Coordinate with the Asia-based team for cross-regional synergy and campaign amplification
- Monitor and evaluate campaign performance and prepare regular reports.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in climate justice, energy policy, campaign organizing, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of African energy issues, including fossil fuel phase-out, renewable, and just transition frameworks.
- Excellent communication and public engagement skills.
- Experience in grassroots organizing, coalition building, or policy advocacy.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of Kiswahili or another African language is an asset.
- Familiarity with the sociopolitical landscape in Africa.
