A Coal-Free Future focuses on the decarbonization of major coal producer provinces such as Shanxi in China and East Kalimantan and South Sumatra in Indonesia. Since the program’s launch in 2023, PACS has brought researchers, NGOs, and policy makers from these provinces to share experiences and to form partnerships towards clean energy

BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE DIRECTED TOWARDS GREEN ENERGY

Through the BRIDGE program, PACS aims to drive China’s international energy investments to become greener. It shares data-driven climate analyses and evidence-based publications, reports, and testimonials to communities and decision-makers to encourage them to support the shift to renewable energy.

CLIMATE STORIES

The Climate Actions program tells stories of individual climate heroes to build inspiring people-focused climate narratives. Ten years after Typhoon Haiyan, a young student from the Philippines is studying renewable energy engineering in China, and a farmer from a small village in coal-heavy Shanxi Province is using solar to power his tractor, farming equipment, and home. We continue to build more narratives like this today.

Executive Director

Tom Xiaojun Wang is a seasoned communication strategist and NGO executive with extensive experience in media relations, campaign coordination, and organizational leadership. Since founding People of Asia for Climate Solutions (PACS) in November 2018, Tom has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s strategies, building key partnerships across media, NGOs, business sectors, and governments, and spearheading fundraising initiatives.   Prior to founding PACS, Tom served as Senior Communications Advisor and Campaign Coordinator for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids in Beijing (2017-2018) and as Communications Director and External Liaison Advisor for Greenpeace East Asia (2005-2016), where he established and led the Communications Department, coordinated stakeholder relationships, and upheld Greenpeace’s branding integrity in mainland China.

Oscar S. Gabriel, Jr. is an accomplished educator and leader with a strong academic background and a passion for community development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from PCHS, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Philippine Normal University, and a Doctorate in Educational Management from Marikina Polytechnic College. Oscar has been recognized for his leadership in human resource development, including a prestigious scholarship at Penn State University. His diverse experience in education and organizational development contributes to PACS’s strategic growth and operational success.

Aileen Camille B. Dimatatac is a dynamic communication strategist and visual storyteller, specializing in media strategy and multimedia production for NGOs. With a background in producing compelling stories around social and environmental issues, Aileen has worked with organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), 350 Pilipinas, and Greenpeace Philippines. Her expertise spans media liaison, event organization, and producing impactful content that drives social change. Aileen continues to inspire through her storytelling and dedication to highlighting urgent social and environmental challenges.

Renato Redentor "Red" Constantino is the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and V20. With nearly three decades of experience in climate, development, and environmental campaigns across Asia, Red brings a wealth of expertise to PACS. He has worked extensively with international organizations and authored The Poverty of Memory: Essays on History and Empire. As Executive Director of the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), he led initiatives such as Agam: Filipino Narratives on Uncertainty and Climate Change, one of the world’s first literary anthologies on climate change. Red’s writing and leadership continue to influence climate discourse globally.

Cesar Carlito "Chuck" Reyes Baclagon is the Associate Director for Asia Digital Campaigns at 350.org, a global grassroots climate movement dedicated to holding world leaders accountable to the realities of science and the principles of justice. Chuck brings extensive expertise in digital activism, having previously spent nine years at Greenpeace Southeast Asia, where he played a key role in enhancing the organization's digital campaigning efforts. With a background in journalism from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Chuck is a passionate advocate for climate justice and a leading figure in digital climate activism across Asia.
